Ted e-mails: "Do you have a photo of the antlers that were harvested from a car-deer accident in Decorah that supposedly was bought by Cabela's for a hundred thousand dollars? I just heard about it on the street several times today. You have to get a special deer tag from the Sheriff if you hit a deer in order to harvest it."
Mr. Answer Person replies: Now that the snow has arrived, it must mean some people are spending a lot of time in the coffee shops with little to do.
How else to explain the latest rumor? We have also heard a variation on this story--that the deer was harvested by a bystander to the car-deer accident who saw how big the deer's antlers were and took the carcass away--and now is being sued by the woman whose car got hit.
The only problem with these stories is that there's not a lick of truth to them. A manager at Cabela's in Prairie Du Chien says their business NEVER buys carcasses or antlers. Ever! And they certainly don't pay "a hundred thousand dollars" for something to hang on their walls.
So go back to your coffee! And talk instead about the UFO that was spotted last night near Highlandville :)
