Winneshiek Medical Center eyeing closer relationship with Franciscan Skemp

Winneshiek Medical Center officials are studying a proposal for a closer working relationship with Franciscan Skemp Healthcare.  Franciscan Skemp is part of the Mayo Health System and serves an eleven county area covering Western Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota and Northeastern Iowa.

Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer Dan Werner says Mayo Health System is regionalizing its operations.  Aligning with Franciscan Skemp Healthcare facilities in Waukon, Prairie Du Chien and La Crosse might help the Decorah hospital to gain efficiencies and to improve patient care.  Winneshiek Medical Center has already begun using a picture archiving communication system in a joint effort with Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in La Crosse.
