November was warm and wet

November weather in Decorah continued the recent trend of warm temperatures and wet conditions.

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says temperatures averaged 37.1 degrees during November.  That's 2.1 degrees warmer than average.  Temperatures ranged from 69 degrees on November 9th to 12 degrees on November 26th and 27th.  That was typical of this November--daily highs were above average, but many days also had lows that were below average, although lows for the month were 1.1 degree higher. Compared with 116 other years for which temperatures were recorded, November of 2010 finished 39th from the top.

During November 2.37 inches of rain fell in Decorah.  Almost half of that total fell on November 13th.  The month of November finished 0.56 inches above normal November precipitation over the past 118 years.

So far for 2010, nine out of 11 months have had above average temperatures, while five months had above average precipitation and six months have had below average precipitation.  For the past 11 months, however, Decorah has had 5 inches more precipitation than average, due to a very wet June and July.
