Decorah Police remind public of snow emergency parking procedures

Decorah Police are reminding the public that whenever the city experiences a snowfall of one inch or more, a snow emergency shall automatically be in effect and all snow emergency parking procedures shall be in effect.  

While a snow emergency is in effect, curbside parking of vehicles is permitted as follows:  All vehicles shall be parked on the side of the street with even numbers until the snow has been removed from the opposite side of the street.  This plan supersedes all posted parking restrictions until the completion of snow from both sides of any given street.  Vehicles parked in violation of this ordinance and interfering with snow removal operations are subject to towing without prior warning.
 
Decorah Police are encouraging people who are using the City's 48 hour lots to move vehicles so the snow can be removed from there as well.
