Winneshiek Medical Center volunteer honored

WMC Chief Administrative Office Dan Werner with WMC volunteer Pat Wiest of Spillville

Winneshiek Medical Center volunteer Pat Wiest of Spillville has been honored by the Iowa Hospital Association.  Wiest has been given the "Shining Star Award," which honors outstanding Iowa hospital volunteers.

Winneshiek Medical Center community programs coordinator Beth Holthaus nominated Wiest for the IHA award.  She said, "Pat has the true heart of a volunteer.  She thoroughly believes in the mission of WMC and actively promotes the local medical center.  Pat's devotion to Winneshiek Medical Center is an inspiration to me and to those around her."

Wiest has volunteered at WMC for the past 13 years, serving as president of the Auxiliary twice, a volunteer in the Gift Shop, and has been active with the Auxiliary fund-raising events.  Pat also organizes the staff appreciation day held during National Health Care Week.  For many years, Pat decorated a special tree for the WMC Foundation's Festival of Trees fund raiser, and her caramel apples became an anticipated favorite at the Dessert Among the Trees event.
