Low Income Home Energy Assistance applications now available

Posted: Sun, Nov 21, 2010 3:56 PM

Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation has begun taking applications for Iowa's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.  The "LIHEAP" program is designed to aid qualifying low-income Iowa households (homeowners and renters) in the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating season.  It also aims to encourage regular utility payments, to promote energy awareness and to encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency, client education, and weatherization. All clients applying for this program will simultaneously be making an application for weatherization assistance as required by state law.

To see if you may be eligible for LIHEAP, contact the Decorah office at (563) 382-8436, extension 150 or visit www.neicac.org/energy.html.  To complete an application you will need to bring with you proof of income, a current heat and electric bill, and your social security card for everyone in the household.
