Luther extends recreation complex deadline

The Luther College Board of Regents has given a Decorah group another year to complete its plans for a recreational field complex on college-owned land on Highway 52 and Pole Line Road.

REPSI will begin fundraising for the project in January.  Plans call for soccer fields, softball fields, a cross country running trail and a restroom facility on the property.
Luther College had originally given REPSI a deadline of May of 2011 to have started the project.  The group is aiming at starting construction this summer, but worried about missing the deadline.  Luther President Rick Torgerson asked the Board of Regents to grant an extension of the deadline—and the board approved.
