Luther College junior  Bailey Cahlander from Chanhassen, Minnesota has been chosen to create a piece of violin art for the Minnesota Orchestra annual Symphony Ball spring fund-raising event.

Cahlander was one of five artists to receive a commission from Minnesota Orchestra.  Each of the selected artists will use her or his talents to transform the simple violin into a work of art.  The violins will be featured in the Symphony Ball's silent auction on June 25th.  All proceeds will benefit the Minnesota Orchestra.

Cahlander plans to create a mosaic on her violin.  Cahlander, an art major at Luther, is the daughter of Karla Cahlander of Chanhassen.  She is a 2008 graduate of Chaska High School.
