Car/train accident near Ossian sends one man to the hospital

A DM & E train struck a truck Thursday afternoon on the east edge of Ossian.

Police say 59-year-old Larry Livingood of Waterloo stopped at a crossing on a private road, but then failed to see the train and pulled out in front of it.  Livingood was injured in the crash and was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center, but police say his life was saved because he was wearing a seat belt.
