a decorahnews.com reader e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "Did the police find out who the little girl was that was hit by the teenage female driving her car by the Hostess Bread Store about 4:35 p.m. on Monday?  It is my understanding that the teenage female driver was on her cell phone and "bumped" the little girl who was walking in the crosswalk.  The teenage female driver then left the scene without contacting the police and/or the little girls' parents."

Mr. Answer Person says: There is no police report of this incident, as you mentioned in your e-mail.  That means there's no confirmation that this took place.

So let me make some general comments instead: DON'T TALK ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING!

OK, besides that, it's important for parents to stress to young children that they need to be careful at crosswalks--and it's just as important for parents to stress to teenagers that they're driving a heavy, dangerous piece of equipment when they get behind the wheel of the car--so watch out for kids in crosswalks!!
