9:15 p.m.--County Recorder race is tight; Lonnie Pierce leads in Supervisor District 1

Absentee ballots have been counted now at the Winneshiek County Courthouse.  3,370 absentee ballots were counted.

In the race for County Recorder, Democrat Barbara Ettleson holds a slight lead over Republican LaVonne Bjergum and Independent Teresa Bockman.  Ettleson has 1,161 votes...Bockman has 1,076 and Bjergum has 1,068.

In the race for District #1 Supervisor, Lonnie Pierce has taken the early lead.  Pierce has 230 votes, Democrat Mark Kuhn has 177 votes and Independent Dean Darling has 167 votes.

Leaders in other races are challenger Michael T. Klimesh in State Representative District 15; John Beard in State Representative District 16; and John Logsdon in Supervisor District 2.
