Celebration of Life 2010 raises over $16,000

The results are in from this month's Winneshiek County Celebration of Life fundraiser.

Organizers say the event raised more than $16,000 for free mammogram screenings for under or uninsured women in the area at their fundraiser.  All proceeds from the event will go toward helping to pay for free mammogram screenings and to promoting breast cancer awareness. 

Free mammogram screenings will be offered in November at both Winneshiek Medical Center and Gundersen Lutheran - Decorah Clinic. Women who are uninsured or underinsured can qualify for a free screening at WMC.

Women age 40 and older should apply.  The form is located at www.winneshiekcol.com.  Applications for the free screenings are also available at Margaret's Clothing Store, Winneshiek Medical Center, Gundersen Lutheran - Decorah Clinic.  The application is a simple one-page form that is based on insurance deductibles, income, number of persons in the household, eligibility for Medicare or Medicaid and a few other factors.  FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29TH IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE.
