The Winneshiek County FSA Office has begun a sign-up for the 2009 Crop Disaster Program for 2009 soybean plantings that suffered a loss in production.
The aid is available to producers in Winneshiek, Allamakee, Howard, Clayton, Fayette and Chickasaw counties in this area. Producers must have suffered losses soybean production due to hail during 2009.
Disaster counties are using the 2009 crop year data for soybeans. FSA has calculated an average per-acre revenue-based value for the crop. For soybeans, this is $15.62 per acre.
Through CAP, FSA will provide this emergency assistance to help re-establish the purchasing power of eligible producers who suffered a 5 percent or greater loss of production on soybeans that were grown in the designated counties.
Producers must have a share and a risk in the soybeans. Producers must have suffered the 5 percent or greater loss in the county average (48 bu/acre) or their own APH from crop insurance, whichever is higher. Producers will self –certify that they have met the 5% loss, however producers will also agree to have verifiable evidence that can be submitted upon request due to spot check by FSA. Producers will initially receive 75 percent of their CAP payment and once sign up is complete, they will receive up to an additional 25 percent.
Producers must apply in person at the FSA county office where they report their planted acres. Signup closes December 9th.
