Ask Mr. Answer Person: "Are we still able to get the Decorah Public Access Channel?"

decorahnews.com reader Allen e-mails: Just have a question about the Decorah Public Access channel. Are you still able to get it? I have rescanned my TV several times and do not come up with the DPA which was previously on channel 15.  I have emailed Mediacom about this issue and they say that it is still available on digital basic channel 15.  Was just curious if you had heard if there have been any more people with this problem.  Had talked with somebody at the Stone Hearth Inn last weekend that her mother was having the same problem.  Thanks for possibly looking into this issue. Would be nice to watch the candidates forum and also city council meetings again."

The Decorah Public Library operates the Public Access Channel.  Library Director Lorraine Borowski says, "Mediacom recently did some upgrades.  People who have digital TV are unaffected.  But people with older sets need to go to the Mediacom office and either pick up a basic box or have the Mediacom people come and install a box. The box makes it possible for them to receive the public access channels and any other ones in basic that are missing.  This box is free of charge and free to install. There is also an HD box, however, that one is an additional charge per month."
