Fire destroys garage

The Decorah Fire Department was called to the Lester Leidahl residence at 1746 252nd Street around 1:30 p.m. Monday for a garage fire.  

On arrival of the firefighters, the garage was fully engulfed in flames.  The fire had also spread to two other sheds that were in close proximity to the garage.  The fire was knocked down, but the garage and its contents were a total loss.  There was fire and heat damage to the two other buildings, although some of the contents were saved.  

No dollar amount of damage has been determined.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, the Iowa State Patrol, the Winneshiek Medical Center Paramedic Service and Alliant Energy.
