Logsdon, Palm are running for District 2 Supervisor

Posted: Wed, Oct 13, 2010 8:46 AM

Incumbent Winneshiek County Board Supervisor John Logsdon says he's running for another term because he has a few projects he'd like to keep working on.  Tuesday night Logsdon mentioned the Winneshiek County Recycling program, which he says has generated a $150,000 surplus since the county took over the program.  He also mentioned Wellington Place, which he says has become "the jewel of Winneshiek County" in recent years.

Logsdon says these programs and others on which he's worked have brought in almost $1 million in additional revenues to Winneshiek County.  That has enabled the county to hold property taxes nearly even in the last eight years Logsdon has been on the board.

Logsdon's opponent, Warren Palm, worked at Food Service Director at Luther College until the food service was outsourced to Sodexo two years ago.  Palm says his work on sustainability issues and local food issues at Luther College proves he can get the job done.  Further proof, he says, is the fact that he has attended county board meetings for the last six months, in an effort to learn the job of a supervisor.

Palm and Logsdon are running for District 2, which includes Castalia, Frankville, Ossian and a number of townships in southwestern Winneshiek County
