Quirk, Klimesh outline their views of state government

State Representative Brian Quirk says the awards he has received from several organizations for "Legislator of the Year" show his ability to work across the aisle to solve the state's problems.  Quirk has been a legislator for 10 years.  He says the legislature has done a good job, despite the challenges it faced, citing the state government reorganization plan in particular.

But Qurik's challenger, Spillville Mayor Michael T. Klimesh, says the state government should not be spending $1.13 for every $1.00 they take in.  Klimesh highlighted the projected $1 billion state budget shortfall next year.  He said the state legislature has not improved the budget situation.  Klimesh says the legislature needs representatives who are "attuned" to the issues facing small business and local governments.
