Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum's Sixth Biennial Benefit Auction has begun.  The museum is offering over 55 pieces of folk art in the auction.

The folk-art pieces up for auction are by artists working in traditional Norwegian rosemaling, woodworking, fiber arts and knifemaking.  The contributing artists are Vesterheim Gold Medalists, award winners or instructors.

The items can be seen online at http://www.vesterheim.org. They can also be viewed in person at the museum open from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday until October 21st.

The museum's live and silent auction will be held Friday, October 22nd, with final silent bidding at 7:00 p.m. and the live auction at 8:00 p.m. at the Hotel Winneshiek.  Admission to the auction is free.  Items other than folk-art pieces also will be included in the auction.

In addition to the auction, the museum will host a dinner at the Hotel Winneshiek at 5:30 p.m. October 22nd.  Reservations for the dinner can be made by calling the museum at 563-382-9681 before October 18th.

Proceeds from this year's benefit auction will support the folk-art education program at Vesterheim.
