(Note: Last Thursday decorahnews.com posted a story saying the the late spring "Womens Weekend Out" event might be ending. Our story said that interest in the event has declined in recent years. It said the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce had ended its sponsorship of the event, saying it was "no longer a good fit." It said Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau had been asked to take over the event, but had not yet decided whether to agree to run WWO.)
The Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau says it has established a committee to study a possible new name, new date and new activities for the former "Womens Weekend Out." A news release from WCCVB states, "Time and energy are being spent to breathe new life into a spring event that has a lot of potential."
The WCCVB committee needs more help, however. The news release states "The success of this event, like any other, relies on active participation by dedicated and passionate people. Several have already stepped forward, but they cannot do it alone."
If you're willing to be a committee member, please contact WCCVB Director Brenda Balk at wctc@alpinecom.net or (563) 382-2023.
