Even though no record high temperatures were set in Decorah during September, the month was 0.5 degrees warmer than normal. That put September of 2010 47th warmest on the list of 116 Septembers for which temperatures have been recorded.
The temperature did reach 85 degrees on September 21st, with the coldest temperature coming six days later--35 degrees on September 27th. It marked the 51st time in the last 115 years that the first fall freezing temperature of 32 degrees or lower was recorded after September 30th.
Precipitation in Decorah in September was 4.36 inches--0.73 inches more than average. That placed September 2010 as the 36th wettest of the 116 Septembers for which precipitation has been measured.
