City of Decorah Police were called out to three traffic accidents on Thursday.
Around 10:00 a.m. 20-year-old Claire Thompson of Decorah was traveling east on Walnut Street, turning onto Park Street, when she was distracted by a toddler in the back of her car and struck the rear end of a parked vehicler owned by John Kaschins of Decorah. The accident caused 49,000 in damages, but Thompson was not injured or ticketed.
Just before noon, Clara Tweet of Decorah reported to police that she had noticed $5,000 in damages to the rear bumper of her car. Tweet had brought the car to the police station, telling officers the car was not damaged as of 6:00 that morning. Tweet said she had driven to get groceries at Fareway and also traveled on Day Spring Lane, but she doesn't know when her car was hit.
Finally, a traffic accident around 1:30 p.m. did $3,000 in damages. Dylan Reed-Maxfield had parked his car on View Street, but it began to roll away and struck a tree. The emergency brake was not engaged on the car and the manual transmission was in neutral.
