12 apartment dwellers affected by Thursday night's fire

The roof of the first apartment building was destroyed

Thursday evening's fire at 706 Maiden Lane affected not only the eightplex apartment building, but half of the next door eightplex apartment building.

American Red Cross officials say 12 apartments were affected overall by the fire.  The residents of 10 of the apartments have been able to find housing with friends or relatives.  The residents of the two other apartments are receiving temporary housing from the Red Cross.

The investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
