READER OPINION: Wold Park needs a drinking fountain

decorahnews.com's recently had an article about the donation of money by Dick and Jan Helgeson to the Decorah Parks & Recreation Department.  The Helgesons sold to the City of Decorah property they owned next to Wold Park--then turned around and donated $40,000 to the Winneshiek County Community Foundation to establish an endowment for park projects.  The article brought this suggestion from decorahnews.com reader Nori Hadley:

"How generous of Dick and Jan Helgeson to give back to the City of Decorah!  As someone whose family regularly uses Wold Park (for trail access, skateboarding, picnics, and birthday parties), I would like to politely request that the Park & Rec Board honor the Helgesons by installing a drinking fountain at the park.  There isn't one nearby, nor are there businesses where one can purchase or ask for a drink (excepting the pop machine at East Side Body Shop).  Let's make a great park even better by putting in a source of clean water!"
