Sale of property to Wold Park will benefit the city in two ways

Earlier decorahnews.com told you that the City of Decorah had reached an agreement to purchase property adjacent to Wold Park, expanding the amount of public land in the park.

Now we can tell you that the sellers of the property--Dick & Jan Helgeson of Decorah--are going to turn around and give back the money for the benefit of the park system.

The Helgesons say they will take $40,000 from the sale of the property and give it to the Winneshiek County Community Foundation.  The non-profit group will then use the money to establish an endowment for the park system.  Interest on the money donated by the Helgesons will be spent on Parks & Recreation expenses as needed.
