The proposed softball and soccer field complex on Pole Line Road is not a dead issue. In fact, members of the RESPI group are about to begin a local fund drive to raise $750,000 for the project.
The recreational facilities project suffered a setback when it failed to win an Iowa Great Places grant. But supporters of the project haven't given up and are pushing ahead with the plan.
The local fund drive has a goal of raising the $750,000 by the end of 2010. Supporters say they already have one pledge of a $100,000 contribution. The final touches are being put on some of the publicity materials for the fund drive. The kickoff is expected to take place in another week or two.
