NICC named "Military Friendly College"

Northeast Iowa Community College has been named to the 2011 "Military Friendly Schools" list.  The top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country are named to the list for their work in embracing veterans as students.

The criteria for making the list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditation.

The group making the designation, G.I. Jobs, noted several categories in which NICC received a 100 percent recommendation. NICC is VA approved, accepts the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), gives credit for CLEP and/or DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and awards academic credit for military training and experience. Moreover, NICC has regional, national, programmatic and hybrid accreditation.
