Decorah Mayor Don Arendt has signed a proclamation declaring this week Constitution Week, commemorating the signing of the Constitution of the United States.
The U.S. Constitution is the oldest constitution still in active use in the world today. It is the basic document of our republic, protecting the individual liberties of all citizens through written law. DAR Hannah Lee Chapter of Northeast Iowa is observing Constitution Week locally.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation's children. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
