"Second Wind," a group exhibit about wind energy, will be on display starting Friday in the Preus Library at Luther College. The show is comprised of works by several Minnesota artists that address the concept of wind energy and the proliferation of wind turbines in the upper Midwest.
"Second Wind" is scheduled to coincide with the current development of Luther's own wind turbine.
"The exhibition is expected to raise awareness of turbines and their value as an alternative energy source by placing them in a cultural, historical and artistic context," said Donald Myers, director of Hillstrom Museum of Art. "Artists in this exhibition help us to see the wind as a powerful force, a kind of renewing spirit that can be harnessed for the benefit of all."
Artists contributing to the Luther show include Ruthann Godollei, Ben Frink, William Bukowski, Linda Rossi, Brad Widness, Kristen Lowe, Lois Peterson, Denice Fetzer Woller, Diane Katsiaficas, Michael Eble, Ann Judkins and Fred Hagstrom.
This exhibition is made possible with the help and cooperation of Donald Myers.
Coordination at Luther is being done with senior art major Amber Hendricks.
