August in Decorah was hot, but rainfall was near normal

25 out of 31 days in August in Decorah had above average temperatures, says Decorah weather statistician Richard Bernatz.

For the month, temperatures averaged 74.5 degrees in Decorah, says Bernatz.  That's 4.2 degrees warmer than average.  Just 11 of the past 116 Augusts have been warmer.

Two inches of rain on August 31st left Decorah with an August precipitation total of 4.07 inches--just slightly above average.  For the past 12 months, Decorah has had more than 7 inches of rain above average.
