Renda Sacquitne honored through Vesterheim Donation

Family and friends of the late Renda Sacquitne, Decorah,have donated two benches to Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum's Open Air Division as a memorial in her honor.
 
Renda Sacquitne was a Vesterheim volunteer who led toursof the museum's Open Air Division. She always loved Decorah's Nordic Fest celebration and served as
President, Secretary, Merchandise Chair, Program Chair,and Button Chair. She was recognized as the Nordic Fest 2009 Flag Recipient. Renda loved giving tours of the Open Air Division, said Martha Griesheimer, Vesterheim oordinator of Volunteers. She worked hard during Nordic Fest, and was so dedicated that, when everyone else was worn out, she always gave the last tour on Sunday of Nordic Fest weekend, Griesheimer continued.
 
Renda's family, along with Theresa McCabe, her coworkerat Iowa Workforce, members of the Nordic Fest Board, and other friends, contributed to a memorial fund at Decorah Bank & Trust. The money raised was used to purchase one of the benches. Additional funds required to purchase the second bench were donated by family members, including Renda's mother, Darlene Vine; her brothers, Raymond Sacquitne and Reynold Sacquitne; her sisters,Robin Altoff and Roxanne Lueschow; her daughter Reagan Jacobs; and her grandchildren Kylie, Jarod, Ethan, and Carter.
 
"The benches are a wonderful addition to our Open Air Division," Director of Development Steve Grinna said. "Situated outside our historic mill, they offer visitors a comfortable place to rest in the midst of an Open Air
Division tour - something that Renda, as a Vesterheim Volunteer Guide, would appreciate," Grinna added.
