There will be three names on the November ballot for District 1 county supervisor. County Board Chairman Dean Darling has decided to run for re-election as an independent.
Darling lost the Republican primary by 12 votes to Lonnie Pierce of Bluffton. Pierce, Darling and Democrat Mark Kuhn of Spillville will all be on the November ballot now.
More than 250 Winneshiek County residents have urged Darling to run for re-election, so he will begin circulating nominating papers. 27 signatures will be required for him to get on the ballot.
Darling has served 12 years on the Winneshiek county Board, the last six as county Board Chairman.
