New Decorah police officer hired

Chris McClelland is the newest member of the Decorah Police Department.  He was sworn into office Monday night at City Hall.

McClelland spent 18 years as a deputy sheriff in Pensacola, Florida.  He tells decorahnews.com that he was interested in the job in Decorah because his wife's family lives in the Decorah area and because he wanted to live in a good place to raise his kids.

Immediately before joining the Decorah Police Department, McClelland spent eight months working for the enforcement department of the Iowa Department of Transportation.
