Boy Scout Don Spieker promised City of Decorah officials on Monday night that he will make sure the city welcome sign on Montgomery Street will get a new look. Spieker has agreed to change the landscaping at the welcome sign as his Eagle Scout project.
He will lead a group of Scouts in a work day Tuesday afternoon at the sign. He has also scheduled a second work day on September 18th, at which time volunteers would plant perennials such as daylilies, coneflowers, salvia and asters.
Spieker says the project could cost up to $650. He promises to pay for the project through donations.
