The goal of Mental Health First Aid is to increase mental health literacy. Like CPR training helps a non-medical professional assist an individual following a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid training helps an individual who doesn't have clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. In both situations, the goal is to help support an individual until appropriate professional help arrives, with the added underlying intention to promote mental health literacy.
The trainings will take place September 16th and 17th from 8:30am-3:30pm at the Spectrum Network in Decorah and also on September 30th and October 1st from 8:30am-3:30pm at the Spectrum Network in Decorah. To register for either of these free trainings please contact Jill Kluesner at Jill-Kluesner@uiowa.edu or 563-583-5545 x. 605.
