Results from the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills show North Winneshiek students achieving above their grade levels. Using the combined scores for reading comprehension, mathematics and science, third grade students achieved a 4.9 grade equivalent; fourth grade students achieved a 5.1 grade equivalent; fifth grade students achieved a 6.1 grade equivalent; sixth grade students achieved a 6.5 grade equivalent; 7th grade students achieved a 9.4 grade equivalent; and eighth grade students achieved a 9.1 grade equivalent.
North Winneshiek students scored the highest in science, followed by mathematics and then reading. There was just one area where North Winneshiek did not meet the Adequate Yearly Progress goals set by the federal government—42 percent of sixth through eighth graders did not meet the Adequate Yearly Progress goals for reading.
