The Winneshiek County sheriff's Department says its Alcohol Incentive Grant Program in July resulted in targeting impaired drivers and other traffic violations.
The costs associated with the added enforcement were reimbursed by the governor's Traffic Safety Bureau. Sheriffs deputies say the additional enforcement resulted in seven drunk driving arrests, two public intoxication arrests, seven arrests for open containers of alcohol, one .02 violation and one underaged possession citation.
In addition to the arrests, sheriff's deputies issued around 100 traffic citations and warnings in July due to the extra enforcement.
