"Mr. Answer Guy: What's happening in back of Decorah High School with all the dirt that's been spread and the stakes that have been put out?"
This is culmination of work that reshaped the pond behind Decorah High School that is informally referred to as "Lake Roberts." The project involved shifting the pond toward the dike by removing 5500 cubic yards of dirt from the north side of the pond, and filling the south side of the pond with 3500 cubic yards of that dirt.
This final step of leveling and seeding provides expansion of the space available on the south side of the pond for athletic fields. A full soccer field will run east/west, and a football practice field will run north/south (nearest the residential "flats") without crossing the soccer field. The fields will also be used by the band and physical education classes.
