Winneshiek Medical Center--which showed an operating loss last fiscal year--has "turned it around" in the just-finished 2009-2010 fiscal year.  That's the statement of Chief Financial Officer Lynne Luloff, who says preliminary figures show the hospital had an operating gain of $759,983 in the 2009 fiscal year.  That's a margin of plus 1.8 percent, compared to a margin of negative 2.5 percent last year.

Luloff says the hospital is seeing some "positive trends."  Net patient service revenue was $41,486,488--up eight percent from the previous year.  Other operating revenue of $883,500 gave the hospital total operating revenue of $42,369,988.  Total operating expenses increases only two percent in FY 2009--to $41,610,005.

For the year, with non operating revenues added in, Winneshiek Medical Center finished with a net gain of $1.5 million.

Luloff emphasizes that all the figures are preliminary figures, with final figures due at a later date.
