New radiologist is beginning work at Winneshiek Medical Center

A new radiologist, Dr. Richard Remark, is beginning work at Winneshiek Medical Center.  The Winneshiek Medical Center Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved provisional active medical staff privileges for Dr. Remark.

Last year the hospital and Dr. David Jensen were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.  Then Dr. Jensen's replacement, Dr. Kirby Clark decided to move back to Dubuque in February.  Since then radiology services have been provided by temporary fill-in radiologists and by radiologists providing services remotely.

WMC Chief Administrative Officer Dan Werner says Dr. Remark will have a solo practice at the hospital.  "We think that will be fine in terms of volume," he said.  Werner said the hospital board will reassess the situation at a later date to determine whether additional staffing is necessary.
