Contract approved for engineering of Trout Run Trail bridge over Highway 9

The Decorah City council has approved an agreement with WHKS Engineering for design services for the Trout Run Trail bridge over Highway 9.  The company will charge up to $27,000 for preliminary design services.

City Engineer Lindsay Erdman says the company will provide outside help with structural issues involving the bridge.  Erdman says the preliminary designs will also help city officials with the final design of Segment 11, which is the portion of the trail north of Highway 9 that links up to the new bridge.

The funding for the Highway 9 Trout Run Trail bridge has not been finalized yet, but city officials say the preliminary engineering is needed to help answer some remaining questions.
