There's not one answer to your question, but several.  decorahnews.com reporters attend a LOT of meetings!  We also make a LOT of phone calls following up on news stories.

But a good deal of our news stories come thanks to e-mails from our readers.  We're eternally grateful for that help (as well as the e-mails from sharp-eyed readers who spot a spelling mistake or a website link that doesn't work).
