Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum has hired Steve Grinna of Decorah as its Director of Development.

A graduate of Luther College, Grinna has worked in the financial services industry for 29 years, first with Strommen and Associates in St. Paul, Minnesota; then with Lutheran Brotherhood/Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Minneapolis and then in Decorah; and most recently with Brokers, International of Des Moines.

Grinna spent his youth in Decorah, which he describes as "the greatest place in the country to grow up."  Grinna served on Vesterheim's Board of Trustees from 2002 to 2006.  Proud of his own Norwegian heritage, Grinna adds "Vesterheim is my history, my background. That's who I am."

"It is an honor to join all the other great people at the museum," Grinna said.  "I will do whatever I can to help Vesterheim grow as an institution, and will work to build greater recognition of everything the museum has to offer, throughout the nation and in our own back yard."
