Northeast Iowa Community College has begun accepting registrations for a class on Artificial Insemination.  Dr. Alex Souza and Dr. Humberta Rivera, reproduction specialists with Accelerated Genetics of Baraboo, Wisconsin, will jointly teach the class.  The three day hands-on class will be presented in English or Spanish as needed.

The class will cover all aspects of bovine reproduction, from anatomy and hormones to heat detection.  The students will receive insemination practice utilizing cattle from The Dairy Center and neighboring farms.

The class meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 3rd, 4th and 5th, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day at The Dairy Center, located on Highway 150 south of the NICC Calmar campus.   The course fee is $149.  Registration is very limited, so interested students are encouraged to call to reserve a place in the Artificial Insemination class.  Contact NICC at (800) 728-2256, extension 399, to register. For more information call Mary Steen at (800) 728-2256, extension 341.
