The City of Decorah is moving closer to getting new maps of the floodplain in the city.
FEMA has sent city officials a new proposed map of the floodplain. City officials now have 30 days to respond to FEMA about errors made in names or other simple notations. After that the city will get another 90 days to complete a technical review of the new maps.
FEMA officials will visit Decorah at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 4th, to meet with city officials about the map. The goal is to complete the review of the floodplain map within six months--and definitely by early fall of 2012.
