Decorah Wal-Mart pays cigarette sales fine

The Decorah Wal-Mart has agreed to pay a fine for selling tobacco products to an underaged person.

A public hearing on the violation had been scheduled, but it was canceled after the business decided to accept the violation and pay the fine.  The Decorah City Council on Monday night formally accepted the settlement agreement.  As part of the agreement, Wal-Mart agreed to pay stiffer penalties for any subsequent violations in the near future.
