Luther College President Richard Torgerson has announced the appointments of Susan Sorlien of Bonita Springs, Florida, Diane Thormodsgard of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Enwei Xie of Beijing, China, to the Luther Board of Regents.
Sorlien is a Decorah native and a retired executive of Sears, Roebuck and Company. Sorlien holds the bachelor of arts degree in business and history from Luther College, an information technology certificate from DePaul University, the total quality management certificate from Northwestern University, executive strategic management certifications from the College of William and Mary and Harvard University, and the executive financial analysis degree from Babson College in Babson Park, Massachusetts.
Thormodsgard is a retired vice chairman of Wealth Management and Securities Services for U.S. Bank. A native of Sac City, she holds the bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, economics and accounting from Luther College and the master of business administration degree from the University of Minnesota. Thormodsgard served on Luther's strategic planning committee.
Xie is an information technology leader in cloud computing systems, applications and software. He works as the chief cloud computing strategist and a general manager with Microsoft China's Greater China Region operations. A native of Shanghai, China, Xie holds the bachelor of arts degree in computer science, mathematics and physics from Luther College and an electrical engineering degree from FuDan University in Shanghai, China.
The three appointees will join the college's governing board at its October meeting.
