City officials concerned about cigarette butts

New cigarette butt buckets outside The Corner Bar

City of Decorah representatives say they're hearing from the public about cigarette butts left on sidewalks, especially downtown.

City officials are trying to set up a meeting with representatives of Downtown Decorah Betterment Association, the downtown SSMID and the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce to discuss this issue.

There have been efforts to correct the problem, including new cigarette depositories put out by downtown businesses.
