Sheriff's deputies give report on Special Traffic Enforcement Program

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says a four-day Special Traffic Enforcement Program over the Fourth of July led to 23 additional citations.

The state money helps pay for addition police staffing during times of increase traffic.  The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says while the STEP did not increase seat belt use, it did lead to three drunk driving arrest, the investigation of five accidents and the rendering of assistance to five motorists.
