The Decorah Community School Board conducted some housekeeping business at their meeting Monday night. They appointed Darlene Woodhouse as the Board Secretary, and Cathy Dietzenbach as the Treasurer.
They also added Fidelity Bank and Trust to the list of other Decorah banks as potential "depository institutions." Superintendent Mike Haluska said the list of multiple banks would be fair, as well as particularly important for options in the short term investment of money if a bond issue passes. The board also decided to continue with a $7 million cap for investment at any one institution.
Brian Petersburg and Rick Valley consented to serve on a committee to work with North Winneshiek School on the continuation of a Whole Grade Sharing agreement.
The board also approved computer, internet and other network resources acceptable use policies for both students and staff. The new policies will be distributed before classes begin this fall.
Struxture Architects was approved as the architectural firm to work on the "safe room" area of potential high school construction. The district has an ongoing relationship with Struxture but the board needed to officially confirm their selection for this particular project in the event it is eligible for a FEMA grant. A committee had evaluated two other firms in the selection process.
