The Gundersen Lutheran-Decorah Clinic has been chosen as a medical student training site for the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.

Under the program, students who say they are interested in practicing medicine in a rural setting are sent to the clinic for 18 weeks of training.  In addition to working at the clinic, Gundersen Lutheran has partnered with Winneshiek Medical Center to provide hospital experiences for the students.  Decorah Clinic physicians Dr. Brian Dougan and Dr. Kurt Carlson have also joined the program as faculty members.

The program is expected to help with future physician recruitment efforts for both Winneshiek Medical Center and Gundersen Lutheran.
